Greetings from Western University! Our faculty, staff and volunteers are excited to meet and welcome you. The International and Exchange Student Centre (IESC) will help you prepare and transition to life in Canada and at Western. We are committed to making your experience as enriching, rewarding and successful as possible, starting with supporting you as you prepare to arrive. International Student Orientation Day

Friday, January 6, 2017, 5 to 8 p.m.
Register online by January 4, 2017

Orientation Day offers a great opportunity to meet new people and learn more about life at Western and in London. Topics include: programs and services, settling in and getting around, Canadian classroom basics, immigration information. Free pizza and drinks provided. All new international and exchange students are encouraged to attend. Registration required. More details


Reminder: Study Permits

You must have a valid Canadian Study Permit for postsecondary studies in Canada. If you are transferring from another Designated Learning Institution in Canada, you must notify Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) via your MyCIC account. Checklist graphic Preparing to Come

 

Carry the following with you when you travel to Canada and be prepared to show some of the documents to immigration officials. Do not pack documents in your checked luggage.

  • Valid Passport and Canadian Temporary Resident Visa (if applicable)
  • Letter of Introduction issued by the Canadian Visa Office that approved your Study Permit* application. Submit this letter to a Canadian Immigration Officer when you arrive at the border to obtain your actual Study Permit.
  • Supporting documents (e.g., copy of acceptance letter, transcript, proof of funds, marriage certificate, etc.)
  • Medical and immunization (vaccination) records, medical prescriptions and medications
  • Money and a credit card
  • List of important phone numbers

Visit the IESC When you Arrive

Visit the International and Exchange Centre (IESC) on the 2nd floor, International & Graduate Affairs Building to pick up your orientation package. Our staff and volunteers are here to welcome you and help you settle into Western and London.

Please note: University Offices, including IESC and Western International, will be closed December 23 at 3;30 p.m. and will re-open January 3 at 9 a.m. Many businesses and stores in Canada will be closed December 25 and January 1. Campus Police will remain open during this time.
