When Should I Arrive?

Academic programs at Western are offered in three terms:

The start date of your classes may vary depending on your academic program. For specific dates, please view your Academic Calendar.

You should plan to arrive in London a week or two before classes begin and before the International Student Orientation Day.

The best time to arrive at Western University is on a weekday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Many university offices (including the IESC) are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public/university holidays. If you are arriving in December, please note that offices at Western University are closed over the winter break (approximately December 24 to early January) and January 1 is a public holiday.

Things to consider when deciding a date of arrival:

If you will be living in a Main Campus first-year or upper-year residence, there is an early move-in date for international students. This will allow you time to settle in and participate in the International Student Residence Welcome Day and IESC's International Student Orientation Day. For more information about being an International student living in residence, read the International and Exchange Student Guide.

If you plan to live off campus, it is a good idea to arrive at least two weeks before classes begin to find a place to live. Remember: Never rent a place without seeing it first yourself!

Don't forget to reserve temporary accommodation to ensure that you have a place to stay while you search for housing and remember to set aside some money for this added cost.
