COVID-19 International Arrival

Welcome! This website is for new or returning students arriving from outside of Canada to study at Western University.

All Western University, Brescia, Huron and King's University College students arriving from outside of Canada (including international students and Canadian citizens) are required to complete all necessary testing and quarantine requirements and must register their quarantine plan with Western prior to arrival in Canada.

If you are an international student who is eligible to enter Canada and is fully vaccinated with a Health Canada-approved vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD and Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) you may be exempt from select quarantine requirements, including the three-day mandatory government-approved hotel stay and the Day 8 COVID-19 test, but you must still register your travel and quarantine plan with Western

For eligibility information, please visit the Government of Canada website. Please note that the vaccines approved by the World Health Organization for students living in residence may not be Health Canada-approved for quarantine exemptions.

Students who do not meet the eligibility requirements will still need to complete all the steps required to travel to Canada from abroad. If arriving prior to August 9, 2021 at 12:01 am EDT, this includes completing a three-day stay in a government-approved hotel as part of their 14-day quarantine period and required COVID-19 testing. Those arriving on or after August 9 are not required to complete the three-day hotel stay. For more information on quarantine please review the quarantine information section below.
