Steps for Students Travelling to Canada

The steps for travel to Canada below are for fully vaccinated travellers as defined by the Government of Canada.

International students who are 18 years of age or older, who are unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or vaccinated with a vaccine other than the nine approved types, are not permitted to enter Canada.  For more information on vaccine requirements, please visit Important Vaccine Requirements for Returning to Canada.

Individuals under the age of 18 are not required to be fully vaccinated with one of the nine approved vaccines to enter Canada.

Planning your trip

  1. Ensure that you are eligible to travel to Canada.
  2. Review the government checklist for entering Canada.

Before you depart

  1. Ensure you have all the necessary documents and items required to travel to Canada.
  2. Download the ArriveCAN app and enter your travel and contact information, proof of vaccination, and COVID-19 symptom assessment.

    • As of April 25, 2022, fully vaccinated travellers are no longer required to provide quarantine plans in ArriveCan.
  3. Travelling with children?

Upon your arrival

  1. Complete any requested arrival testing requirements.
    • Travellers may be randomly selected to complete a Day 1 test.
    • Fully vaccinated travellers will not be required to quarantine while waiting for the result of the arrival test, however you should still be prepared to quarantine if your test results come back positive.
  2. Check if you require additional vaccinations in Ontario, or to meet Western's Vaccination Policy requirements.
