3-day government-required hotel stay
As of February 22, the Canadian government has implemented additional travel requirements for all travellers arriving by air to Canada, including completing a mandatory 3-day stay at a government-approved hotel as part of their mandatory 14-day quarantine period.
Western is committed to continuing to support students planning travel to Canada for the summer term and fall term, including offering a reimbursement of up to maximum of $2000 per student to cover costs associated with the federal requirements.
- Applicable for degree-seeking undergraduate, professional and graduate students arriving by air up until October 31 2021, for their first entry into Canada since February 22, 2021; continuing students also must have been residing outside of Canada for 4 months or longer to be eligible
- Students will be reimbursed upon the completion of their 3-day airport hotel stay, up to a maximum of $2,000 per student, with receipts and boarding pass
- Visiting students/research only and Postdoctoral scholars are not eligible
- Must arrive by air to be eligible. Students arriving by land are not required to complete the 3-day stay at a government-approved hotel, so are not eligible for the reimbursement.
Note: Students registered at an Affiliate University College or Ivey are not eligible. Please contact your college or faculty for financial supports available.
Students who register their travel plans with us who indicate they will be arriving in Canada between now and October 31 may complete a reimbursement form to request funds. As of now, all other travel requirements and costs for those arriving remain the same. Please note that reimbursement claims will be processed after the student has arrived in Canada and have completed the 3 day government approved hotel stay.

Log in your Student Center account at student.uwo.ca. Click on "Enrol in Direct Deposit" in the Finances section and input your banking information. Once your reimbursement has been processed, you will receive a follow-up email about your direct deposit notification.
