Sign Up for Orientation Day
International Student Orientation offers a great opportunity to meet new people and learn about life at Western. All new international graduate and visiting research students are encouraged to attend. Registration is required.

Prepare to Come
Ensure you have the following items with you when travelling to Canada:
- Valid Passport and Canadian Temporary Resident Visa or an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) (if applicable)
- Letter of Introduction issued by the Canadian Visa Office that approved your Study Permit* application
- Supporting documents
- Medical and immunization (vaccination) records, prescriptions and medications
- Money and a credit card
- List of important phone numbers
*You must have a valid Study Permit for Postsecondary Studies in Canada before beginning classes at Western. If you are transferring between institutions in Canada, you must notify IRCC via your MyCIC Account (GCKey) online.

Visit SGPS & IESC When You Arrive
International Graduate Students are required to show their study permit in person at the School of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies, first floor, International & Graduate Affairs Building.
Upstairs, on the second floor, IESC staff and volunteers will be available in our Welcome Centre from Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 4 pm between August 27 and September 14. We will answer questions and provide an Orientation Package including details about our services, Western, London, immigration, food, health care and much more!

The International Peer Connection program matches new international students with friendly Western students who have already experienced the transition to University life. Peer Guides are dedicated volunteers who help connect new students to the Western community, answer questions and provide support.
