Important Immigration Update on Biometrics
We would like to inform you of an important immigration update affecting the processing of applications (e.g. study permit/work permit extension, visitor status/extension, permanent resident) within Canada.
Starting December 3, 2019, individuals will need to give fingerprints and photo (biometrics) if they are applying within Canada for any of the following applications:
- Study Permit applications (including Study Permit extensions)
- Work Permit applications (including Post-Graduation Work Permit and Co-Op/Internship Work Permits)
- Temporary Resident Visa and Visitor Record applications (including extending your stay)
- Permanent Resident applications
You can give your biometrics at a designated Service Canada location. Make sure you follow all the steps to give your biometrics, including paying the biometrics fee and booking an appointment for biometrics, when you apply. Find out if you need to give biometrics. Visit the IRCC website for more information onBiometrics.
